Cyber Safety Source: Kids Helpline
- Cyberbullying is bullying that uses electronic means like the internet or mobile phones to aggressively and intentionally harm someone.
- Cyberbullying can include name calling, abusive comments, spreading rumours, threats of physical harm, being ignored or excluded, having opinions slammed, online impersonation, being sent rude or upsetting images, or having personal information or images sent or shared with others.
- Cyberbullying is most common in late primary school and early high school and up to half of all young people have experienced it.
As a parent or carer here are some tips which can support you to protect and educated your child beyond the extensive work we do in this space at school.

I was recently at a Principal Forum where the conversation was about student support and wellbeing. It got me reflecting on how we support students here at Exeter Primary School. I compiled a list of opportunities we provide our students, which upon reflection, is something to celebrate and be proud of.
Some of these include:
- Breakfast Club
- Regulation Room – Zones of Regulation
- Recess and Lunch Time Activities – Staff and Student Lead
- Chess Club
- Wellbeing Room
- Basketball Tournament
- Community Engagement Participation – soccer, football, netball, dance, band, cricket
- School Garden Program
- Cooking / Art and Craft
- Taz Kids Club
- Social Skills Groups
- Maths Extension

Communicating Learning with Families
Parent Teacher Conversations
Thank you to parents and carers that have made the time to have a conversation with your child’s teacher about their progress, socially, emotionally and academically. These are a valuable opportunity to build Home-School connections.
If you missed your appointment or did not make an appointment, your child’s teacher will be in contact in the coming days.
Reporting
Prep – Grade 6
Mid Year reports for Prep – Grade 6 students will be sent home to families on Friday 4th July (week 10). Some of the assessments contributing to overall academic ratings will be shared at Parent Teacher interviews. Effort and Behaviour will also be assessed in each curriculum area.
Included in the report will be an Evidence of Learning for Maths and English (Prep – Grade 6) and PE, Music and Digital Technologies for Prep - Grade 2. Other subject areas and grades will be shared later in the year.
Reading on Country Photo Challenge
Congratulations to this year’s winners of the Reading on Country photo challenge. There were many wonderful entries, so a big thank you to the families who supported this challenge. The whole school enjoyed seeing the photos at the assemblies over the past 2 weeks. The Reading Leaders presented the grade winners with a certificate and a Petrarchs Bookshop voucher.
Here are the fabulous winners-
Rowdy in Prep “sunset reading with his trusty dog”
Adeline in Grade 1 “reading in the grasses”
The 2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge kicked off on Monday!
Every year, thousands of students across Tasmania participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge. The Challenge encourages personal reading goals over 10 weeks, embracing diverse formats, including recommended books. This year there are an amazing 31,970 students participating from across 152 schools, colleges, and Home Education families!
At Exeter Primary School, each grade is challenged to achieve different goals including- - reading in the library during lunch
- completing the 10 Reading Log page
- reading a range of text types
One of the aims of the PRC is to help students figure out what they love to read so that reading will be easier – so students are encouraged to try reading different things – fiction, non-fiction – blogs, comics, poetry, lyrics, essays, magazines, newspapers… it all counts in the PRC.
This is a challenge for all Tasmanian students. It doesn’t matter what your reading level is, everyone can take part.
Reading is a skill we need for life. All the reading you do in this challenge will help you at school and at home.
The Challenge runs for 10 weeks until 24 August. For more information you can go to- Premier's Reading Challenge - Department for Education, Children and Young People
Exeter Primary School Association Committee
Next meeting Thursday 26th June at 6:30pm.
As well as some of the big ticket items, like basketball hoops and playground upgrades, the SA Committee often gets requests from the school for resources supporting school programs.
Recently we were able to assist in purchasing new readers to support the school literacy program. A little newer and more relevant, these are a great addition for the younger years readers - and hopefully will add some variety to the books that come home!!
