Over the past fortnight, we’ve had the pleasure of celebrating two wonderful events that truly showcased the spirit, talent, and togetherness of our school community.
Our Billy Tea Bush Dance was a joyful evening filled with music, movement, and laughter. It was heartwarming to see students, families, and staff dancing together and embracing the fun of traditional bush dancing. The live music and community participation created a vibrant atmosphere that will be remembered for years to come.
Following this, our Arts Afternoon provided a rich opportunity to celebrate the creative talents of our students. From stunning visual art displays to heartfelt singing, expressive drama performances, and toe-tapping musical pieces, our students shone brightly. Their confidence and creativity were on full display, and it was a joy to see so many families making themselves available to support their work and performances.
A very special thank you goes to Ms Marie Delamore and Mrs Amy Sims, whose dedication, creativity, and hard work were instrumental in making the Arts Afternoon a success. Their passion for the arts and commitment to our students made these celebrations truly special.
Additional thanks to Mrs Cindy Dunn and our Admin Team who contributed much of their time to support with preparations.
2026 Class Placement requests
A reminder that class placement requests from parents are due by Wednesday September 17. If there is any relevant information that we need to consider regarding your child's academic, social and emotional wellbeing during our process, please email Zach directly, zachary.taylor@decyp.tas.gov.au.
Swimming and Water Safety program
Our Swimming and Water Safety Program is running for the next two weeks. Our Grades 3-5 students will be travelling daily to the Launceston Aquatic Centre to participate in the program. Due to the timing of the Grade 3-4 classes, there will be NO hot lunches available for these students during this time.

In 3/4 Duncan, during our Art classes, Mrs Parsell has been coming in to help us build up our skills in sewing. We have been learning to sew. We have used this skill to create a glasses case for our dad’s or carers for Father’s Day. Firstly, we backstitched an outline onto our material, we then created a design in the outline. Next, we had the bags sewed and backed. We then threaded through a draw cord. We would like to thank Mrs Parsell for all the time and effort she has put in to helping us create these gifts. We hope that all fathers had a wonderful Father’s Day as well.
In line with our Sun Smart policy, students are expected to be wearing hats from 1st September each year. Please ensure your child has a named hat as soon as possible. Please contact the school office if you wish to view the policy.
Entry forms need to be returned to the school office by Wednesday 24 September together with payment. Forms are available at the office.
2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge
For the past 10 weeks our students have been participating with thousands of students across Tasmania in the Premier's Reading Challenge. A big aim of the PRC is to help students work out what they love to read so that reading will be easier – so students are encouraged to try reading different things – fiction, non-fiction – blogs, comics, poetry, lyrics, essays, magazines, newspapers… it all counts in the PRC.
At Exeter Primary School, each grade was challenged to achieve a number of reading goals. These achievements were tracked on class posters in the library and in classrooms. 74 students from grade 3-6 achieved each of our school-based challenges and the winning class was 3-4 Duncan. These students enjoyed a pizza lunch to celebrate. In the 1-2 classes, the winning class to receive a sticker sheet and have an extra playground playtime was 1-2KP.
A big thank you to Mrs Clarke and class teachers for supporting students with this program.
Remember, reading is a skill we need for life. Let’s keep helping our children to read!!
