Welcome back to Term 3! It has been a smooth transition back into school routines and expectations.
COVID -19 Update
As a community we find ourselves being impacted by COVID-19 and need to change the way in which we go about our business. As communicated previously, The Department of Education acts upon the advice of Tasmanian Public Health Department. We need to be alert but not alarmed. For the wellbeing of school communities, we are taking a conservative approach.
As advice changes, we will continue to provide up to date information through our Facebook Page, Communication Books, Newsletter and Schoolzine channels.
As of this morning we are acting on the following advice and requirements:
- As has been announced by the Tasmanian Government, anyone who is in Tasmania who has been in Victoria (excluding transiting Melbourne Airport) and now also South Australia on or since 8 July are NOT to attend school for the remainder of the school week. (Friday 23 July 2021 inclusive).
- For those impacted students in years K-10, schools will be making contact to check in, and as appropriate offering support with student learning. Don’t forget that Learning at Home resources are available at: https://www.education.tas.gov.au/learning-at-home/.
This is a reminder that although Tasmania is currently tracking well, thanks to everyone’s commitment to do the right thing, it is important that each one of us remains vigilant and continues to abide by the Public Health guidelines. This includes:
- maintaining physical distancing;
- practising good hygiene and washing your hands;
- getting tested if you have even the mildest of symptoms;
- keep students at home if they are unwell;
- downloading and using the Check In TAS app whenever required, including when you enter school sites - more information on the app can be found here: https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/check-in-tas
We will continue to keep you informed as this situation evolves and provide a further update on Friday 23 July 2021.
COVID-19 Check-in App
Following on from a direction from the Tasmanian Government, we now have some changed arrangements in place for parents and carers when visiting schools.
You will now need to check in using the Check-in TAS app when entering school buildings; this includes classrooms, the office, or the canteen.
Students are NOT required to check-in, these arrangements only apply to adults.
We have posters displayed in and around the school site with the QR code to use for checking in.
For those who do not have a smart phone and need to manually check-in, please come to the school office for assistance.
We appreciate your support in ensuring we are doing the right thing.
For more information, visit www.checkin.tas.gov.au
If parents and/ or volunteers are on the school site for longer than a 10 minute period e.g. Parent Help, you will need to sign in at the school office also.
Parents and Carers Onsite
Whilst we welcome parents and carers onsite, we do ask that you limit the time you spend onsite during drop off and pick up times.
We are finding that pick up times are becoming problematic with some parents sitting outside classrooms for extended periods of time waiting for the day to end. Children can become distracted by seeing their parents outside classrooms. The end of the day pack up can be a busy part of the day, so we ask parents if they need to wait outside classrooms that you do this from 2.55pm onwards.
As a school community we value the conversations we have with parents / carers and encourage appointments being made with teachers to discuss and share any information or concerns.
We are all navigating a changing environment, one in which we all need to work together to ensure that our wellbeing and livelihoods are maintained the best we can.
As always, I am happy to discuss any concerns individuals hold during this time so that we come to a shared understanding that best serves the teaching and learning of our students.
Welcome
We would like to officially welcome Mrs Jacci Weeding who has joined the Senior Staff Team, due to Mrs Sims starting her maternity leave. Jacci will be the senior staff member supporting the grade 5/6 team.
Kinder Carpark Safety
This is a busy and high traffic area for drop off and pick up during the day. We ask drivers take extreme caution when entering and leaving this area and reduce your speed dramatically to ensure that the safety of our students is maintained.
Kind Regards,
Week 6 of this term will be our Book Week celebration. This year, all students are invited to appropriately dress up on Thursday 26 August as a book character or in line with the theme. Further information to come!
