Wellbeing
As communicated previously there is ongoing illness and sickness within the school presently. We ask that you keep your child at home if they are unwell with flu symptoms, COVID-19 symptoms or any other symptoms of infectious diseases including:
- fever
- runny nose
- cough, sore/itchy throat or
- shortness of breath
- nausea
- vomiting
Children should only be returning to school or childcare once their cold/flu like symptoms have passed.
I wish to thank families who have supported the school community during the past week by keeping their child at home. We appreciate that this isn’t easy due to other daily commitments families have.
Physical Wellbeing and The Environment
Last term I communicated with families some information around “Online Gaming ” and the impact it was having on wellbeing and the impact it was having on family units. Part of the information included some strategies around what parents could do to support children with their online gaming pursuits. Recently the Department of Education communicated with schools some information and resources to assist us in structuring physical activity daily whilst students are at school.
Physical wellbeing is a key aspect of an individual’s overall wellbeing and is essential for students to be safe, well and positive leaners. There is growing understanding that physical activity has significant benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing and can boost creativity and resilience.
A positive sense of wellbeing enables children to actively engage in learning with optimism and confidence. The way a child sees themselves and their wellbeing influences their attitudes to learning and their ability to withstand life’s challenges. (Department of Education 2020-21)
According to the www.health.gov.au website, it is recommended children and young people do at least 60 minutes each day of moderate to vigorous physical activity that makes the heartbeat faster.
It doesn’t have to be a full 60 minutes at once – several shorter sessions through the day work too.
At least 3 days per week, children and young people should incorporate vigorous activities and activities that strengthen muscle and bone in the 60 minutes.
These activities don’t have to be organised or formal, and can include:
- football
- basketball
- netball
- bike riding
- scooter riding
- swimming
- dancing
As part of the 60 minutes of daily activity, it is recommended children and young people include muscle and bone strengthening activities 3 days per week, like:
- running
- climbing
- swinging on monkey bars
- push-ups
- sit-ups
Children and young people should also do several hours of various light physical activities each day. These can include:
- walking to school
- walking the dog
- going to the park with friends
- helping around the house
With the days beginning to lengthen in daylight and warmth, it is a great time to get into some routines and habit-forming physical exercise.
Bus Zone Safety
- 8.30am – 9.00am
- 2.45pm – 3.30pm
This is strictly a no parking or drop off during these times. Parking can occur beyond the signed area and in the carpark at the eastern end of the school.
Kind Regards,
Children are not to bring toys to school and they must not trade personal items with other students.

Book Week is next week! This year, all students are invited to appropriately dress up on Thursday 26 August as a book character or in line with the theme. Costumes do not have to be purchased ones, perhaps you have something at home that can be adapted or made with a DIY project. Here are some ideas to get you thinking…. Happy reading and planning!!!
Our Bedtime Stories night returns again this year! On Thursday 2 September from 6-7pm we invite students to attend with 1 adult from their family (to allow for required social distancing).
Children are welcome to come in PJs and bring a pillow to enjoy some stories. The evening will feature story tellers and a light supper. We will be holding this event in the PAC and the library.
As this is being held in the week before Father’s Day, dads are especially welcome! We hope you can come and join the fun.
Enrolments are now open for Kindergarten in 2022. If your child was born in 2017 they are eligible to attend our current Pre-Kindergarten program. Sessions are held in the Kindergarten room and are facilitated by Mrs Sally Fisher. Participation in these sessions assists children to become comfortable and confident to start school, helping them transition well into Kindergarten. Sessions are held once a week every Friday, 9:00am - 10:15am or 1:30pm- 2.45pm.
If you have not received enrolment forms for 2022, please contact the school office to request enrolment forms. We look forward to meeting all of our Kindergarten families for 2022 and working together to build a strong connection between home and school.
