Swimming Carnivals
What a fantastic level of participation we had at our Exeter Primary Swimming Carnival held at the George Town pool early this term. The weather was perfect and the behaviour of the students was exemplary, both spectators and participants. As always Mr Habel was well organised and everything ran smoothly, even leaving time for a student, parent and staff relay, which was a favourite with the crowd. Our Exeter students who participated in the TPPSA Swimming Carnival last week represented our school extremely well and achieved results we can all be proud of. A special thank you to the parents who support these carnivals and encourage such great participation from their children.
The Arts at Exeter
This week we will hold our annual Arts Afternoon to celebarate all things art at Exeter Primary. Mrs Sims and Mrs Emms are to be congratulated on the work they do to provide a diverse range of arts experiences for our students many of which will be showcased on Wednesday afternoon. This term our 3/4 classes have been working with Felicity from Tasdance and together created a wonderful dance movement based on Minecraft. Students presented the dance to their parents and peers last week and a section of the dance will be performed at the Art Afternoon. This Friday evening our Esk Band students will perform in the Esk Band Extravaganza to be held for the first time at the Albert Hall. This is always a fabulous night and our students have been practising hard for this great event. On Friday 1 December those students who have been participating in Dance Fever 2017 will be performing at the Door of Hope.

Exeter High School Orientation Day and Parent Evening
Transitioning to high school is a major event for many of our students and we endeavour to make this process positive and productive. We work closely with Exter High School to ensure our transition process meets the needs of our currrent cohort of students. As a result our students have been involved a number of information sessions and personalised visits to the high school. Next Wednesday November 29 is Grade 6 Orientation Day. This will be followed by a Parent Information Session in the evening at Exeter High School. I urge you to take up this opportunity to find out more about high school and how you can support your child in this process.
Triathlon
This year we have over 30 students participating in the All Schools Triathlon in Devonport on Thursday 30 November. Mr Habel and Mrs Simpson will be attending on the day to support our team and are both anticipating an excellent day.
Sport Leaders BBQ Project
Congratulations to our sports leaders who have been working hard to action their plan for a permanent BBQ area within our school. After surveying the community a decision has been made to locate the BBQ area behind the PAC. This small group of students have been busy consulting with local businesses to source building materials and last week met with Niall Simpson, a landscape architect, to sketch out some plans for the project. The students are determined to have the BBQ started before the end of the year and plan to develop the area into an interactive outdoor meeting place in the near future.
Class Placements 2018
Thank you to all the families that have contributed information to support us with class placements for 2018. As you would appreciate this is a complex process and we do our best place students in class where both their learning, social and behavioural needs will be best met. We have had some requests that have come in after the cut-off date of November 7 and we cannot guarantee that these can be accommodated but will contact you to discuss if this is the case. Classes for 2018 will be send home with your child’s End of Year Report.
Parents and Friends Open Garden
Liz Jordan has kindly opened her wonderful garden this Sunday from 10.00 to 4.00 to hold an Open Garden event to raise money for our school. Mrs Emms and our choir will be performing. Please come along and support our school and enjoy a lovely summer’s day in a beautiful garden environment.
Launching into Learning
Launching into Learning’s Gym Fun sessions are a fun activity for children from birth to Kinder age, held in our school gym on a fortnightly basis. Children can come along and become involved in climbing, balancing, throwing, catching and jumping. These gross motor activities are aimed at providing children with the necessary skills needed for co-ordination, balance and muscle strength.

Swimming Carnival
Congratulations Dalrymple on taking out the Swimming Carnival on Thursday November 9. Batman and Brady tried their best but Dalrymple denied Batman of an upset victory gaining 546 points to defeat Batman(524) and Brady(409). Well done to all the students on their participation, encouragement, leadership and behaviour on the day which ensured a smooth carnival. I would also like to thank the parents and staff for their assistance with supervision and officiating.
Thanks to the 4 parents who entered a team in the teacher, parent, and student relay which provided a bit of fun. Once again the teachers prevailed with the parents second and Grade 6 boys third.
The standard of swimming in the 25m pool was extremely high which enabled me to select a strong team that represented our school at the TPSSA Carnival at George Town. In Division 1 events outstanding performances were from:
Grade 3: Ella Clark, Grace
Jones, Alex Turner, Jack Porteus
Grade 4: Lakeesha Geale, Atlan Devin, Damon
White
Grade 5: Chloe White, Eliza Kemsley, Ben Hockey,
Matthew Clark, Aidan Woods
Grade 6: Aimee Ringk, Eve Herne, Niall Swain,
Will Radford, Mason Black
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the Carnival.
