From the Principal
Dear families,
Mother’s Day Stall
I hope all our mums enjoyed some special family time on Sunday and hopefully were treated with a gift from our fabulous Mother’s Day Stall. As always there were some beautiful high quality products for sale as the result of some very dedicated work by our team of parent helpers. Many thanks to our wonderful Parents and Friends, our student leaders, our families for supporting this event and our generous community members. All money raised will directly benefit our students through the generosity of our Parents and Friends Committee.

NAPLAN
This week students in Years 3 and 5 are participating in NAPLAN testing. Thanks to careful preparation and attention to detail this process has begun smoothly and students have accepted the challenge with a positive mindset and given their best effort. Thank you to our families who have supported their children to positively manage this process.
ARC Project Geelong Visit
Last week members our Grade 5/6 teaching team visited Deakin University in Geelong to participate in a 2 day workshop focussing on improving student learning outcomes and wellbeing as part of our involvement with ARC Project with the University of Tasmania. The team of teachers visited schools, worked with other teachers and students and saw some amazing innovations in blended learning, personalised learning, team teaching, technology and wellbeing. The team returned to school buzzing with ideas and enthusiasm for new learning. Exeter Primary is very fortunate to be involved in such a valuable research project and the opportunity to learn from other schools who have been leaders in their field.

Swimming and Water Safety Program
The annual Swimming and Water Safety Program commences next week for all students in Years 3, 4, and 5. The program runs over 2 weeks and will take place at the Launceston Aquatic Centre. This is a fantastic no cost program and it is expected that all students will attend daily unless they are unwell.
National Simultaneous Storytime
Don’t forget we will be celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 23 May. The story this year is Hickory Dickory Dash and classrooms will be open for parents to visit and share a story from their childhood with their children from 10.30 – 11.00. Students will be bringing home personal invitations soon and please note that the Grade 3/4 classes have been organised at an alternative time due to clashes with the Swimming and Water Safety Program.
Oral Health Fissure Sealant Program Parent Information Session
Don’t forget there will be an Oral Health information session on Tuesday 22 May from 2.00 – 3.00 in the Parent Room to share information about the new Fissure Sealant Program that will take place next month so please come along and find out more.
Reminder to parents of Kinder, Prep, Grade 1,2 & 6 Those parents wishing to register their child in the Fissure Sealant and Fluoride Varnish Program need to return the Registration Form to the school by Thursday afternoon. |

State Athletics Sports Carnival
Cross Country Carnival
Congratulations to all students on your participation and performances last week. Thank you to Sports Leaders, teachers, officials, parents and supporters for making the day a success. Also to our groundsman Corey Chesshire for preparation of the course.
The Kinder – Grade 2’s did a tremendous job to negotiate the course with fantastic efforts from all runners. Great to see so many parents and supporters in attendance.
The Grade 3-6 Carnival saw Batman end Dalrymples’s 6 year dominance and winning comfortably. Final scores were Batman(216), Dalrymple(177) and Brady(144). Congratulations to all competitors on completing a tough course and fantastic behaviour and sportsmanship on the day.
From our Grade 3 - 6 the first 6 placegetters will represent Exeter at Beaconsfield on Tuesday 5th June starting at 11am in the T.P.S.S.A Cross Country Carnival.
The school wishes our representatives the best of luck. Parents and supporters are welcome to attend.
Peter Habel.
