From the Principal
Dear families,
Swimming and Water Safety Program
The Swimming and Water Safety Program is off to a positive start and it has been great to see our students enthusiastically participating. Feedback from the swimming teachers at the Aquatic Centre has been overwhelmingly positive with all students giving their best and endeavouring to be there in the water every day. Thank you to our families for continuing to support this program by ensuring students are prepared and ready for swimming.

National Simultaneous Storytime
Thank you to all the parents and family members who came along to support our National Simultaneous Storytime Open Classrooms. Reading is the most important skill that children need to master to succeed at school and in life and we appreciate the value our families place on helping their children to make progress with their reading. Our students were excited to share stories with family members and visitors, and young Zac, from 1/2 Radford/ Gee did a fabulous job reading this year’s story, Hickory, Dickory Dash. Thank you Mrs Emms for organising the event this year and surprising every child in our school with a book via our LIFT Program to take home to read. If you would like to know more about how you can help your child with reading, please talk with your child’s teacher and I have added a link that you may find useful:

University of Tasmania Pre-Service Teachers
This week we welcome a team of Pre-service Teachers from the University of Tasmania. These teachers will be working with us for the remainder of the term. At Exeter Primary we value our partnership with UTAS and understand that by supporting beginning teachers we are giving back to our profession and ensuring that they have the opportunities to grow and learn from experienced teachers. We welcome Abbigail Goodyer – 3/4 Duncan, Lucinda Davis – 1/2 Radford Gee, Haydn Robertson – 1/2 Crawford, Bonnie Cooper – 5/6 Alcock and Terri Gibbon – Kinder Freeman. Please introduce yourself to them if visiting your child’s class.
Celebrations of Success
We are excited and proud to share that Chloe has been selected to represent Tasmania in the U12 Girl’s Hockey Team. Chloe will be training hard and attending a training camp in Hobart during the school holiday. We wish her all the best for the upcoming School Sports Australia Hockey Championships to be held in Newcastle in August. Well done Chloe!
Congratulations also to Merran, a former Exeter Primary School Student. Merran recently performed in the National Band Championships held in Melbourne and won her section becoming the Junior National Flute Champion. The Junior Championship is for instrumentalists up to 19 years of age and at 15 Merran has done exceptionally well to win with a convincing score of 90 marks. We are very proud of her achievements and acknowledge the wonderful start Merran had as a member of the Esk Band Program.
Parent Teacher Conversations 2018
Parent teacher conversations will be held in Week 10 of this Term on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 July. This year we will be using the SchoolZine online booking system. The information you need about how to book online will be sent home this week and I have also included links below which will take you directly to the booking site and provide information about how to book.
