From the Principal
Dear families,
We have had a great start to Term 3 with students returning to school settled and focused on learning. The first 2 weeks of the term have been very busy with lots of great learning opportunities on offer including The Tasmanian Fire Service Fire Safety Program and a great performance by Bernard on building resilience. Our Grade 3/4 students had an excursion to East Beach and Mrs Sims has begun working with her creative team for REMADE 2018.

Celebration Assembly
I would like to extend a warm thank you to all the parents and family members who attended our Celebration Assembly last week. Your presence signifies the value you place on your child’s learning and education in general. This assembly is an opportunity to acknowledge students who work hard and give their best every day. Students demonstrate this by wanting to be at school every day ready for learning, achieving academic excellence and developing a Growth Mindset. We had a significant number of students who were recognised by their teachers for having a Growth Mindset this year and this is very encouraging. Having a Growth Mindset means that students employ effort, demonstrate resilience and the ability to bounce back from setbacks and persist to reach goals. It is these habits of mind that support lifelong success. I have included a link to the video clip that I shared at the assembly which you may like to share with your family around Growth Mindset.
Congratulations to all the students who received a letter of commendation we are very proud of you.

School Psychologist
At the beginning of this term we farewelled our School Psychologist, Jessica Walker. I would like to acknowledge the significant work that Jessica has contributed to our school over the time she has been with us and thank her for her genuine care for the welfare of our students. I would like to warmly welcome our new psychologist Annie Fitzgerald. Annie comes highly recommended and has quickly settled into Exeter Primary School. We look forward to working with Annie and know that she will be an asset to our school.
Congratulations to Aran Miller
We were all really pleased to see former Exeter Primary student, Aran Miller in the Examiner over the weekend. Aran has just returned from Canada where he competed in his fourth Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships. Aran came home with 13 gold and 2 silver medals and broke 7 world records. Aran is a wonderful role model for our students.
Road Safety
Recently we have had a number of wet days which has led to an increase in the number of cars dropping children off at school and on some mornings I have witnessed some driver behaviour that has concerned me. I would like to ask all parents who are dropping their children off at school to be mindful of the safety of others by using the designated drop off areas, driving to the end of Glen-Ard Mohr Road to turn around and to stop at the crossing to let children cross safely. With 16 buses servicing our school daily the morning drop off can be very busy and we all need to take care to keep our children safe. Thank for your assistance with this.
Regards
Alison

If you do not wish to place an order please return the catalogue to the office.
All orders need to be handed into the school office by Wednesday September 26 to avoid disappointment and guaranteed delivery.
