From the Principal

Thank you

Thank you to our many wonderful school volunteers. Last week we held our annual Volunteers Morning Tea to acknowledge the vital work our volunteers undertake to support our school community. For those who could not make the morning tea I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time, expertise and commitment to our school. Exeter Primary School is very fortunate to have such an active and supportive volunteer community.

Halloween Social

What a fantastic night we had last Thursday at our Halloween Social. A big thank you to all our families who supported this event and for going to such effort to create the amazing array of costumes. As always I can report that the behaviour of our students was exemplary and it was a pleasure to spend the evening with them. I would like to acknowledge our Student Leaders who organised the event and helped things run smoothly on the night, with Mrs Sims support.

Class Placements 2019

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our class placement process, your input has been useful. We will now begin constructing our classes. This process will take a few weeks as we are still to finalise our teaching staff for 2019. Information about your child’s class for 2019 will be sent home with your child’s end of year report.

Swimming Carnival

Our 3-6 Swimming Carnival will take place this Friday at the George Town Pool. This is always a great event and Mr Habel provides opportunities for students of all swimming abilities. Parents are welcome on the day and we encourage all children to participate in this event.

Remembrance Day

Monday November 12 our school will be recognising Remembrance Day with a brief ceremony at the flag pole at 10.55 am. This ceremony will be conducted by members of our Student Leadership Team.

White Ribbon Competition

Students from our 5/6 classes recently competed in the Launceston White Ribbon School’s competition on ‘What does Respect Mean to You?’ We were pleased that some students received honourable mentions with others receiving a participation certificate for their entries.

Kind regards
Helen

First LEGO League

First Lego League- The STEAM Team

Last Saturday, the 3rd November, saw 8 students participate in the Tasmanian Regional Qualifying Round of the First LEGO League Into Orbit challenge. Held in Launceston for the first time, the STEAM Team converged on the UTAS Newnham Campus at 8:30am for a full day of competition. After an opening ceremony, the 23 teams taking part from all across the state, participated in 3 rounds of Robot Challenges where they were required to program solutions to robotic challenges, explain their robot design and coding, present their Research Project which addressed the issue of humans long-term ability to be productive in space and demonstrate to judges that they worked cooperatively in and among their teams. Our Exeter Primary team exemplified gracious professionalism on the day, cheering and supporting other teams, sharing resources and being focused on having fun and teamwork. We cannot wait until FLL 2019!
