Mother’s Day Stall
I hope all our mums enjoyed some special family time last Sunday and hopefully were treated with a gift from our fabulous Mother’s Day Stall. As always there were some beautiful, high quality products for sale as the result of some very dedicated work by our team of parent helpers. Many thanks to our wonderful School Association, particularly Donna and Yvette, who coordinated the stall and craft sessions and their helpers, as well as our student leaders, families for supporting this event and our generous community members. All money raised will directly benefit our students through the generosity of our School Association Fundraising Committee.

NAPLAN
This week students in Years 3 and 5 are participating in NAPLAN testing. Thanks to careful preparation and attention to detail this process has begun smoothly and students have accepted the challenge with a positive mindset and given their best effort. Thank you to our families who have supported their children to positively manage this process.
Swimming and Water Safety Program
The annual Swimming and Water Safety Program commences on Monday 27 May for all students in Years 3, 4, and 5. The program runs over 2 weeks and will take place at the Launceston Aquatic Centre. This is a fantastic no cost program and it is expected that all students will attend daily unless they are unwell.
Please note this notification is to confirm the change of dates for our SWSP due to the changes in NAPLAN assessments being conducted online. Our swimming dates are now from Monday 27 May until Friday 7 June. This notification means the Consent form for Aquatic Activities form signed at the beginning of the year for our SWSP during the dates of 20 May to 31 May, will cover this years changed dates of Monday 27 May until Friday 7 June.
National Simultaneous Storytime
A reminder we will be celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 22 May. The story this year is Alpacas with Marcas and classrooms will be open for parents to visit and share a story from their childhood with their children from 10.30 – 11.00. Students will be bringing home personal invitations soon.
Parent Information Session
I would like to bring to your attention a free Parent information session being run by the West Tamar Council. Nathan ‘Dubsy’ Want will be talking to parents on the topic DIGITAL AVALACHNE – HOW TO NAVIGATE SOCIAL MEDIA AS A PARENT AND NOT BE SWEPT AWAY! Dubsy is an engaging speaker who will give you insights into the current and emerging online trends and strategies and techniques to help promote open communication and trust with your child. He will also discuss how parents can actively help their children continue to have a positive and safe experience as a social media user. Booking are essential, so I would encourage you to book your place now. Please see the flyer below for more information. Dubsy will be talking with our 5/6 students on setting and achieving goals.
School Improvements
It was great to have our new sun shade installed over the prep sand pit at the end of term 1 and early this term we received our new chairs for our prep rooms and 1/2 Atkins. We have also had new directional signage placed around the school to assist visitors and families know where our facilities are.

Warm clothing
As we move closer to winter, and our mornings become colder I would like to remind parents to ensure that students come to school in adequately warm clothing. It is very important for children to get outside and play at recess and lunch time and for this they need to be wearing appropriate clothing for the weather. A raincoat packed in their school bags is a great idea too as on drizzly days children can still get outside and play. Our uniform shop is open every Tuesday morning from 8.30 to 9.30 and Thursday afternoons from 2.30 to 3.30 and has a range of affordable winter uniform items for sale, including good second hand items. If you are having difficulty in providing your child with the school uniform please contact the office and ask for assistance.
Cross Country
Congratulations to all students on your participation and performances yesterday. Thank you to sports leaders, teachers, officials, parents and supporters for making the day a success. Also, to our groundsman Corey Chesshire for preparation of the course.
The Kinder – Grade 2’s did a tremendous job to negotiate the course with fantastic efforts from all runners. Great to see so many parents and supporters in attendance.
The Grade 3-6 Carnival saw Dalrymple regain their dominance and winning comfortably. Final scores were Dalrymple (207), Brady (170) and Batman (166). Congratulations to all competitors on completing a tough course and fantastic behaviour and sportsmanship on the day.
From our Grade 3 - 6 the first 6 placegetters will represent Exeter at Beaconsfield on Tuesday 4 June starting at 11-00am in the T.P.S.S.A Cross Country Carnival.
The school wishes our representatives the best of luck. Parents and supporters are welcome to attend.

Woolworth’s Earn & Learn
We are excited to be taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program.
The more points we earn, the more we can redeem from a choice of over 10,000 educational resources including numeracy and literacy resources, art & crafts materials and much, much more!
Look for our boxes at Legana and Riverside supermarkets
We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at the school office.
School Volunteers
Schools are busy places and we always appreciate those people who can offer their support to our school. Volunteers can support in areas such as the School Association, Uniform Shop, Canteen, Breakfast Club, Banking or Classrooms. We currently are needing support in our Uniform Shop. We also have a great many people who help out on a semi-regular basis when the need arises. Without these special people our school would not be the rich and wonderful place that it is and our students would not have access to the variety of opportunities they currently have. If you would like to support our school in any of these areas, please contact our school office on 6394 4700.
Outdoor Classroom
Kitchen/Garden Projects
Now is the time when pruning commences, we were wondering if anyone has any raspberry canes that they would like to donate to the school. Classes are now preparing garden beds and shelters for raspberry canes.
If you don’t have raspberry canes but would like to help out in the Kitchen/Garden on Wednesdays, we would love to hear from you. Our Groundsman, Corey would also like some help in erecting shade cloth structures to protect our garden beds. Please contact the school office or send through an email to exeter.primary@education.tas.gov.au.
Classes are also working on another project and would like some old jeans and gumboots that you do not require anymore, these are not for the wearing of, so the condition is not important.
Thank you.
