From the Principal
Welcome to Term 3! I hope everyone had a restful holiday and are eager to engage in some wonderful learning during the term. Personally it has been a wonderful start here at Exeter Primary School as Principal. I have had the opportunity to wander around the school and become orientated in a familiar environment. I return to Exeter Primary School after an absence of nearly 15 years. Exeter Primary School was my first placement as a beginning teacher, the school holds a special place in my career as an educator. I have been impressed at how settled, happy and engaged all students have been upon their return.
During the past 8 years I have had the opportunity to lead both Meander Primary School and Ravenswood Heights Primary School respectively, both schools achieving excellent outcomes for students. As a father of three school aged children I am very aware of the current demands on students and families in the education and home setting, and students are very much at the centre of all my decision making.
On Monday during the teacher Professional Learning Day, the work in which staff were engaged in gave me an insight into the future planning and learning pathways students will be provided for the remainder of the year. I look forward to supporting staff in developing their plans to provide the best learning experiences and outcomes for all students here at Exeter Primary School.
I look forward to meeting and working with parents, carers and community and to continue to build on the great work which is happening here in our school setting.
Regards,

School Attendance
Missing school on a regular basis contributes not only to poor academic success but also social isolation for many children. Even getting to school late can make a child feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. You can support your child to attend school every day by setting good habits around sleep and preparation for school, as well as reinforcing the importance of school attendance by speaking positively about school and sorting out any issues your child may be having quickly. Please let us know if you are having difficulty with getting your child to school so we can help. If your child is unwell and cannot come to school please contact the school by 9.00 m on the day of absence. This can be done by phoning the school office, on 6394 4700, sending an email or via the Schoolzine app.

Arts
Esk Band
Students can opt in each year to the Esk Band Program. During the year they learn to play an instrument in tutor sessions, learning a range of concert items which they play at the end of the year in a concert at Albert Hall. Exeter students work with students from Beaconsfield Primary School each week and play the items as a band to prepare for the concert. This term students will perform during the Arts Afternoon for our school community to showcase their work.
