School Expectations

  • Be Safe
  • Be your best
  • Care for the rest

As we head towards the end of the school year I have had a number of conversations with all students about our expectations of them as members of our school community. There has been a slow decline in student behaviour; in the respect they have shown each other and staff members, inappropriate use of language and the physical and unsafe play. I ask families to have discussions with their child to ensure that the remainder of the year is safe, happy and enjoyable for everyone in the school community. There are a number of celebrations planned towards the end of the term and it would be a shame if students miss out on these due to any inappropriate behaviour.

Student Celebration

As our previous newsletter was shared I had the privilege to attend a Learning Service (North) Student Award Celebration recognising student achievement in the 2019 NAPLAN Testing. The celebration afternoon recognised the student with the greatest academic growth in our school. I would like to congratulate Rhys M as he was presented with a certificated as being recognised as the best performing student here at Exeter Primary School.

Congratulations to our First LEGO League teams who took part in the FLL Hobart Regional Qualifying event last Saturday. TEAM Save the Planet received a category award and trophy for: Programming, while team The Future Awaits received a category award and trophy for their Core Values: Inspiration. Congratulations to both teams for their outstanding effort and commitment.

Last Friday on the “Student Free Day” teachers from Exeter High School, Exeter Primary and Beaconsfield Primary met to consolidate their knowledge, confidence and understanding of the West Tamar Instructional Model. The Instructional Model is a teaching framework which provides teachers with a planning tool to help prepare better quality lessons and delivery. The West Tamar Instructional Model enables teachers across the three school sites to develop a common language and stages of a lesson to engage students in the learning process. The collaboration and sharing of ideas and resources from all teachers involved in the day was exceptional and will only strengthen student outcomes into the future.

Finally thank you to parents and carers for your communication around class placements in 2020. In the coming weeks we will be sorting classes for the coming year. Whilst we endeavour to accommodate all requests at times it is impossible to do so. I appreciate families understanding of the process involved.
