From the Principal
As we head towards the end of the year as a school community we begin to reflect and celebrate student growth and achievement and the special occasions we have participated in throughout the year. We also recognise the people who contribute to our school community to ensure that we are able to provide the best possible education for our students.
Yesterday we celebrated a group of people who volunteer within our school with a morning tea as a token of our appreciation. As part of the celebration I highlighted the benefits that volunteers bring to our school community to support student learning in some of the following areas:
- Excursions
- Working with small groups of students in classrooms to support Literacy and Numeracy
- Support garden programs
- Sporting events and activities
- Fundraising events
- Breakfast Club and Canteen
- Student Banking
On behalf of staff and students we would like to sincerely thank our volunteers for their significant contribution to Exeter Primary School to ensure that we can do those extra things that make our school a great place of learning.

Sport
EPS Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to Dalrymple on taking out the Exeter Swimming Carnival last Monday. Batman and Brady tried their best but Dalrymple turned the table on Batman’s win last year to take their 4th shield in 5 years defeating them by 16 points. Final scores were Dalrymple (578), Batman (562) and Brady (537). Well done to all the students on their participation, encouragement, leadership and behaviour on the day which ensured a smooth carnival. I also like to thank the Grade 9 High School students, parents and staff for their assistance with supervision and officiating.
Thanks, to the 2 parents who entered a team in the teacher, parent, and student relay which provided a bit of fun. For the second year in a row the teachers were beaten by the Grade 6 boys and the parents a close fourth swimming 50m each.
The standard of swimming in the 25m pool was extremely high which enabled me to select a strong team to represent the school at the TPSSA Carnival at George Town on Wednesday.
In Division 1 events outstanding performances were from:
Grade 3: Annie, Cammi, Thomas J, Thomas C
Grade 4: Neve, Stella, Isabella, Nico, Jacob
Grade 5: Ella, Keona, Jack, Abe
Grade 6: Lakeesha, Kiera, Milly, Atlan, Caelan
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the Carnival.

TPSSA Swimming Carnival
The TPSSA Carnival went ahead on Wednesday in wintry conditions aware that the weather prediction for our backup day on Thursday was worse. Congratulations to our team of 38 who braved the conditions winning 63 races out of 88 and coming 2nd in 14 and 3rd in 6 races. Thanks to Chris and Cathie Herne, Haydn Chick and parents who supported the team on the day.

Remembrance Day Assembly
On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. Members of our Grade 6 Leadership Team, led our Remembrance Day assembly at the flagpole with all classes attending, pausing for one minutes silence to reflect and remember.
Lest We Forget.
