Reading on Country - Photo Challenge

Our Reading on Country Photo Challenge has started. Prep to Grade 6 students are challenged to find a special place here at Exeter on Palawa country near Kanamaluka, the Tamar River, for a photo of themselves reading on country. Entries can be sent to Mrs Smith’s email at ellen.smith@decyp.tas.gov.au by Monday, 26 May. Winners from each grade will be announced in the assembly on 29 May and will receive a book prize.

Home Reading

We have had many students reach the 50 nights of reading milestone. How is your child’s reading going lately? If your child is not reading out of school hours then we challenge them to find some reading material that is just right. Maybe it is a graphic novel, the AFL webpages with all the latest player and team news, a picture book or phonic passage. Just remember to record your child’s reading in their log book.

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday in week 4, our whole school will join with thousands of students across the country for the annual National Simultaneous Storytime. The book this year is called Truck Cat. It is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found. The illustrations have been done by multi-award-winning artist Danny Snell and the words are by award-winning author Deborah Frenkel. The Truck Cat is the perfect book to inspire kindness and compassion in children everywhere. We look forward to this special event and seeing what costumes the school staff have for dressing up for us this year.
