Reconciliation Week
With the theme ‘Bridging Now to Next’ for National Reconciliation Week 2025, it is a time to reflect and continue building momentum towards reconciliation in our schools and early learning services, workplaces, and broader communities. This theme invites all Australians to learn more about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and explore how everyone can contribute to promoting reconciliation in our everyday lives.
To support understanding about the idea of Reconciliation students, have invited a grandparent or older relative to come into the classroom on Thursday 29th May to read together, view relevant artwork and/ or play a game. Books have been selected with Aboriginal content plus books with themes like inclusion, connection and family.
Chosen pieces of student art work from across the school will be displayed in local businesses from Friday 30th May.
In addition, we have a small group of Grade 5-6 students that identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander visiting the 3-5 year olds at the Exeter Child Care Centre on Tuesday 27th to share a local Tasmanian Aboriginal Story and complete an activity together.
We hope these small events impact our students in a positive way, increasing their awareness of Reconciliation for Aboriginals, but also at school, at home and within social circles.
