National Simultaneous Storytime
Yesterday was a special day as our whole school joined children across Australia and New Zealand in various venues—such as schools, libraries, community centres, and homes—to simultaneously listen to the same story read aloud. This nationwide event celebrated its 25th year with the aim to foster a shared reading experience and inspire a love of reading among children.
We listened to the online reading of the picture book The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and illustrations by Danny Snell. It was read by Jorcheck Koman, an Australian TV and movie actor who was born in Poland and moved to Australia when he was 26 years old. The book is a heart-warming tale of love, belonging, and the unlikely companionship between a long-haul truck driver and a little rescue cat. Our staff supported the event by dressing up as a truck-driver or friendly cat.
